Nasal Care Details

Some of common environmental allergens such as pollen, volatile chemicals, fungal spores, animal body originated dustings gets into the nasal cavities which causes directly or indirectly various allergies and their reactions. Normal nasal and nasopharyngeal secretions combine with foreign entrants to form solidified mucous in the nasal cavity. These solidified mucous narrow the nasal passage and cause discomfort.

Earlier, an apparatus to effectively remove and treat the nasal passage obstruction as mentioned above was not available. Several methods have been developed in recent times to clean such nasal obstructions. One such development is Nasal Irrigation System which works in the following principle: an isotonic saline solution under pressure flows into one nostril and the nasolacrimal duct and then one by one through the ostia,the ethnoids, the maxillary and the sphenoids , the outlet of the Eustachian tube, through the nasopharynx to the upper posterior portion of the other nostril and in a reverse direction passing through same ducts as above , is discharged from the other nostril.

However, the aforesaid system has so many short comings like the cleaning solution cannot be drained fully from all internal cavities, some infectious agents may be moved from one place to the other and cause new infection there, some very hard matters from nasal cavity may move to sinuses, hard matters may clog in narrow passage viz. Eustachian tube. Therefore, the aforesaid nasal irrigation system did not find general public use. 

To improve the efficiency of nasal nasopharyngeal cleaning, a new type of nasal fitting was invented. It is “flat head nostril fitting” or “one size fits all nostril fittings”. The new invention prevents leakage of NNC ceaning solution leaking from the nostril passage during the irrigation steps as detailed above. The earlier system had conical shaped head fitting which suits only to those who have round nostrils. But everybody does not have that and different people have different shaped nostrils and even have irregular shaped nostrils like long narrow channel.
