Nasal Cleansing – Neti Yoga
JalaNeti
JalaNeti is an effective way of cleansing the nostril. The system is very effective to patients who are suffering from asthma, bronchitis and sinusitis.
JalaNeti is beneficial for our respiratory system in general. One can get rid of headaches and have prolonged youthfulness if Jala Neti is regularly practiced.
JalaNeti Technique
A specially designed Netipot is used which is filled up with saline solution. The spout of the Netipot is placed in one of the nostril. With the cone placed inside the nose and the head tilted a little so that the water may flow properly through the other nostril.
While the water is flowing, breathing should be gentle but normal through the mouth. One should not sniff or try to swallow the inhaled air taken through the mouth while water is flowing in the nostril.
The technique may appear to be difficult but it is not so. A few days of practice will give one the confidence and he would find himself liking to enjoy the benefits immensely.
Drying the nose
It is very important to dry the nose properly and should never be omitted or neglected. Rapid forceful exhalations for few times make remaining drops of water in the nose ejected.
Dugdha Neti
Another form of Neti can be performed with diluted Luke warm milk. This form of Neti is very beneficial for those who are suffering from nose bleeding.. Some people who do not like salt water use, also prefers this Neti.
Sutra Neti – Rubber Catheter Nasal cleansing
This is the most effective way to open nasal passage to its full capacity with a rubber catheter.
Technique
A catheter of rubber of 1mm diameter is passed through one of the nostrils The catheter to be pushed till it reaches the throat. The catheter to be withdrawn gently. The catheter to be tugged gently in and out few times. The similar process is repeated in the other nose.
