Some Thoughts on Nasal Problems & Remedy

There are some causes for the respiratory tract infections like Influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial viruses, parainfluenza viruses etc. As on date, there are no effective drugs for treatment of these infections. Adults and children in one hand are always exposed to these infections and on the other hand may be spreading the infections as carriers.  Nasal cleaning may reduce the load on the tissues and reduce the chance of spreading the disease as well.

Disease causing agents or bacteria are found or exist in the nasal or nasopharyngeal cavities. The shedding of the infections from nasal and nasopharyngeal cavities causes spreading of the disease from upper respiratory tract to lower respiratory tract . The shedding also causes spreading through sneezing and coughing. It is found that most of the cases of viral infections, antibiotic treatment is ineffective. It is thus necessary to remove the disease causing agents from human body. Just like brushing one’s teeth or washing the mouth or eyes, nasal and nasopharyngeal cleaning will help general public immensely to combat the respiratory tract infections in general. Ephedrine nasal wash have been advocated for the treatment of sinusitis and other nasal symptoms and allergic rhinitis.

Nasal and nasopharyngeal cavities are places where environmental allergens viz. pollen, fungal spores, animal dustings and volatile chemicals are normally found. These harmful agents trigger allergic reactions. Mucus secretions combine with environmental particles to form solidified masses in the nasal cavity which obstructs the airway and causes discomfort. Prior to the invention of various nasal-cleaning methods and apparatus, there was no effective way to redeem the discomfort or remove the harmful agents from the nasal cavities and prevent formation of solidified masses in the nasal cavities. However, in choosing a particular apparatus or method of nasal or nasopharyngeal cleaning, one must take guidance and advice from appropriate authority since most of the methods have some inherent disadvantages also which should not outweigh the advantages accrued in individual cases.
